Where It All Began

New Bedford's Maritime Heart

Moby Dick Nauticals opened its doors in 1947 in the heart of New Bedford, Massachusetts — the city Herman Melville immortalized in Moby-Dick and the undisputed whaling capital of the 19th century world.

Nestled at 27 William Street, steps from the historic waterfront and the New Bedford Whaling Museum, our store became a destination for maritime enthusiasts from across the country.

The Collection

Curated With Care

Every piece in our store is hand-selected. From hand-cast bronze diving helmets to hand-painted mermaid sculptures, from sterling silver nautical jewelry to one-of-a-kind ship models — we choose items that carry weight, history, and meaning.

When you shop with us, you're not buying mass-produced kitsch — you're acquiring a piece of the sea's enduring story.

An Experience, Not Just a Store

Walking into Moby Dick Nauticals is unlike any retail experience. The ceiling is draped in maritime signal flags. Antique diving helmets stand sentinel. Ship models sail from their shelves. Every inch tells a story.

Open Thursday through Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Come in, take your time, and let the sea find you.

“The harbor of New Bedford will last longer in the memory of the world than any other seaport in America.”
